ART STATEMENT

My slogan is “I WANT TO DRAW THE FEATURES OF THE SHADOWS”. Shadows explains the dark theme and strong contrast. Additionally, I use science fiction ideas to tackle political and social topics with an activist orientation, to expose the ugliness and immorality.
My artwork utilizes various techniques that include both traditional and digital visual mediums for storytelling. Besides pyrography, . Also, I used acrylics in addition to digital applications.
Most recently my work has moved towards monochromatic or black and white. This approach creates harmony between the art the message hidden in the artwork. I focus on inking lines and shapes to balance contrast. The limited palettes place emphasis on the emotional feeling behind the shapes and line work. My artistic and intellectual development grew from my background as a Palestinian. As an artist I use my eyes and hands to observe and reflect the political reality of settler colonialist occupation. I truthfully represent violations of human rights.
My work includes editorial cartooning, writing and art for comics, science fiction illustration, digital design and academic research. My work seeks to define the relationship between art and politics and science. That’s what I have been investigating through my education in Comics and Sequential Art from Phoenix College, and my degree I’m pursuing at Columbus College of Art and Design with the two majors in Comics and Illustration.
